Have trouble speaking your mind? Do you often have a sore throat, or does a sore throat strike when you visit your family? Do you have thyroid issues? Say, "eeee." Get in the shower, and say, "eeee." Get in your car, say, "eeee." Sit on the couch, and say, "eeee."
Much of re-wiring our true selves requires speaking up. Part of that process requires learning to say what we mean. Most of us find it easier to say what others want to hear than to figure out what we think. We find it easier to react to others than to act independently of others. Yet, we know that in order to heal we must speak our truth as often as possible.
We've got years worth of compressed truths stuffed in our throats and minds, waiting to wail. Rather than wail, however, we could say, "eeee."
continued...In Eastern medicine it's believed that seven energy centers power the body - they're called the chakras. One of those energy centers, the fifth chakra, is associated with our personal truth. (I wrote about chakras and low back pain in this blog a couple years ago.)
The fifth chakra's energy center is located in the throat - think of it as the neglected place between your head, where all that thinking-thinking-thinking is happening, and your heart, the site where all your emotions rush in and out. The fifth chakra is often called the throat chakra, but is officially the Vishuddha chakra (in Sanskrit). If you do a Google search on the term 'Vishuddha chakra," you'll find a plethora of websites dedicated to the topic.
While there are several recommended methods for increasing the positive energy of the fifth chakra, which in turn frees your true voice, the simplest one is to say, "eeee." Saying "eeee" will focus your mind, cause a buzz in your throat, and the sound will remind you that you're doing something good for yourself. Do it as long and as often as you like - and be sure to do it in a calm, relaxed manner, and don't forget to breathe!
For an extra boost, you can visualize the color turqoise, sky blue, or find a vivid blue stone to hold and gaze at. And, eat a variety of fruit.
It's believed that by strengthening the positive energy of the fifth chakra, we can bridge the gap between our heart and our voice and our mind and our voice. This is essential healing for children of alcoholics as well as anyone who has neglected to speak their mind without self-judgement.
There are three Yoga poses that work on the fifth chakra: camel pose, bridge pose, and plow pose. Also, neck and shoulder stretching exercises are a good idea.Go for it. Unleash your true voice, express yourself.
Eeee.
Thanks for the amazing post, Now I will read time to time that...
